As assembly election results have poured in from the five contesting states, women leaders have emerged successful in most of their constituencies. While women-centric schemes were part of all the parties' agendas this year, female candidates representing the parties were very few, less than 12%. However, the results this year reflect how the proportion of women contestants who won have had a higher vote share than many male candidates.
