A team of visually impaired individuals is set to arrive and participate in a fashion show that honors all individuals with disabilities. “Fashion is important to everyone, regardless of vision. It is life-enhancing; it gives confidence; and, like everything that boosts pleasure, it is worth doing well,” said Minal Singhvi, Director of Radio Udaan.

In today’s era, everyone wants to feel confident and look good. The Purple Runway of Dreams—A Fashion Feat—is a unique venture specifically designed to host a fashion show for visually impaired youth. Representing this initiative is the Radio Udaan team, explained by Danish Mahajan, the founder of Radio Udaan and he himself is visually impaired.

He further elaborated that fashion is an integral aspect of daily life, evolving continuously in response to various influences. “A revolution in clothing is visible and palpable, and visually impaired individuals have an equal right to embrace this change. They can dare to look beautiful and feel their best at their own level,” Danish added. The MR. and MS. Beauty Pageant 2025 fashion show is open to both males and females in the fully blind and low vision categories. After completing the semifinal round, the male and female finalists have been selected for the grand finale, scheduled to take place in Panchkula, Chandigarh, in February 2025.

On December 3, 2024, the Government of India announced that Danish Mahajan, founder of Radio Udaan, is the recipient of the prestigious National Award in the ‘Shreshth Divyangjan-2024’ category. A resident of Pathankot with 100% visual impairment, Danish lost his eyesight at the age of 14 and has since become a resilient advocate for persons with disabilities. Through Radio Udaan, an online community radio station, he has reached over 50,000 monthly listeners, engaging in motivational speaking, counseling, and organizing talent competitions.

The semifinal round of the Purple Runway of Dreams was judged by a distinguished jury comprising Mrs. Devi Krishnan, Mrs. Jyoti Gogia (renowned author), and Beenu Rajpoot (documentary filmmaker).

The backbone of this event is the Radio Udaan team, whose members include: Minal Singhvi (Director), Danish Mahajan (Founder & General Secretary), Saif Rehman (Joint Secretary), Jyoti Malik (Program Manager), Rajeev Bhambri (Advisor), Puneet Soni (Trustee), Rajendar Johny (Trustee), Sanjeev Raju (Trustee) and Ashish Singla (Trustee). This initiative underscores the belief that fashion and confidence are universal rights, transcending barriers of disability and fostering inclusion in every aspect of life.

In the modern world, everyone wants to express themselves, and most of them do so through fashion. That does not make any difference because we are all visually impaired. "Fashion is daring to be different; embrace your uniqueness, and fashion makes you uniquely different and effortlessly stylish. We all are very excited for this fashion show," said Jyoti Malik, the program head of Radio Udaan.
