Divya Ramaswamy, author and marketer, launched her latest novel, ‘Love at First Byte’ this November in the Vasant Vihar Club in Delhi. Joining her on stage were esteemed personalities in the world of literature and entertainment - Suhail Mathur (Bestselling Author and Co-founder of The Book Bakers Literary Agency), Rrashima Swaarup Verma (Bestselling Author and Senior Corporate Analyst), Vishal Anand (Senior Corporate Leader, Military Veteran, and Author), and Arunima Verma (Dietician and Actor).
Attended by a vibrant group of authors, readers, and club members, the evening saw spirited, humourous, and fun banter among panelists and audience alike. Core themes of the novel, such as friendship specifically the power of female friendships, love in the workplace, office politics, the impact of cities on personal and professional growth dominated the conversation. An experienced marketing leader with close to two decades in corporate, the author shared interesting and funny anecdotes from her workplaces. How similar to her protagonist Annika, she grappled with the world of acronyms and how her friends really bolstered her confidence and continue to be an excellent sounding board as she navigates life’s challenges.
The panelists spoke about influences on their writing style and subjects of choice. They artfully addressed the often-asked question of how much of their books take from their own lives. There was also an extremely interesting parallel discussion on how the approach to writing and publishing has changed over the years and how authors increasingly are becoming active participants in the process of marketing and advocating for their books. Suhail Mathur, who represents Divya Ramaswamy’s book, highlighted the challenges and opportunities presented by this evolving landscape.
The event was rounded off by a series of Q&A with the audience which involved a lot of laughs, smiles, and chocolate! This was the first in a series of launches for ‘Love at First Byte’ across multiple cities in India, including Mumbai and Bangalore. Published by Vishwakarma Publications and presented by The Book Bakers, this book is described by its readers as light hearted, engaging and heartfelt, and as a story that keeps them engrossed with characters that are real and relatable.
